Our Mission
Our mission is to support the immediate needs of families impacted by the recent mudslides, who have lost: homes, loved ones, belongings, etc.
While there are many organizations helping during this time of need, Red Cross to Direct Relief, we have found we are most effective in making a direct connection between families needs, and families who can support those needs. We will also be linking community resources such as: housing, temporary work, community events, lost and found, etc. We continue to be overwhelmed by the love and support of the community.

Please Note: When a family comes to us or is referred to us, we do not ask about legal status. Our mission is to help members of this great community and each family is served based on their individual needs. Families remain anonymous and are referred to by number (not by family name).
About Us
We are a grassroots group of 7 mothers with 17 children between us, who mobilized to bridge the gap for families impacted by the mudslides. We observed in the immediate days following January 9, 2018, that there were very few resources available for families and individuals who needed rapid assistance.
We approached this effort as a triage situation, knowing that first we needed to understand who was impacted and what their most urgent needs were. We were put in touch with families, conducted a needs assessment and from that assessment used Sign-Up genius to list the specific needs of each family. We than made a mass plea to the Santa Barbara community to help meet those needs. Those needs are continuing to be met.
Needs range from the following: school supplies and new shoes, specific gift cards, to housing and connections with mental health care professionals willing to work pro-bono. We only accept new items, and have found that we are most successful with gift cards which allow families, to shop for exactly what they need and put a meal on the table for their families.
The heroes in this story are you, the members of this community who immediately sprang into action.
On Friday January 19th, the SBCC Foundation brought us under their auspices, acting as our fiscal agent, which has since allowed us to take tax deductible monetary donations ear marked for the SB Support Network. At that time we brought on the 7th member of our group to serve as treasurer.
We have no overhead or administrative costs, so these funds will go directly to the families that we advocate for. We are the ONLY organization local organization who has a 100% pass through of funds donated to the families we represent.
